Do or Die Day at Worlds 2024 – Schedule for LoL World Championship 2024 Swiss Stage Day 5

The main tournament of the year – the League of Legends World Championship 2024 – is gaining momentum. The World Championship continues its group stage (Swiss Stage), where the 8 participants of the Worlds 2024 Playoffs (Worlds 2024 Knockout Stage) are being determined.

The Swiss Stage itself is held in several phases, from October 3-7 and October 10-13. Today, October 7, marks the end of the first phase. And it will conclude with the elimination of two teams.

Let’s check the schedule for the World Championship 2024 Swiss Stage Day 5 and prepare for the upcoming matches.

LoL World Championship 2024: Swiss Stage Day 5

Today, October 7, two matches will take place in the 0-2 bracket of the Swiss Stage. Although these are 0-2 bracket matches, where the weakest teams of the group stage play, this does not diminish their importance.

Each match will be played in a best-of-three format. The winners will continue to play in the 1-2 bracket, while the losers will exit the League of Legends World Championship 2024, finishing in the Top 16. Prepare for edge-of-your-seat games.

MAD Lions KOI – GAM Esports (Oct 7, 14:00 CET)

The first match of the LoL World Championship 2024 schedule will be MAD Lions KOI vs. GAM Esports, starting on October 7 at 14:00 CET. Both teams have a 0-2 score after the previous days, and now this is their last chance to stay in the tournament.

MAD Lions KOI (LEC) – the third team from Europe at this year's LoL World Championship, qualified by placing 3rd in the LEC Regional Finals 2024. Overall, MAD Lions KOI was one of the last "title-contending" teams from Europe to aim for Worlds 2024. They've had a negative win rate all season and got here somewhat unexpectedly.

MAD Lions KOI's performance throughout the year has brought them to where they are now. After a successful Play-In at Worlds 2024, the team lost to Bilibili Gaming and PSG Talon in the first two rounds, and now their opponent in the elimination match will be their Play-In colleagues, GAM Esports.

As for GAM Esports (VCS), their presence in the 0-2 bracket does not surprise me. The first team from Vietnam consistently qualifies for the League of Legends World Championships, but achieving significant results has been elusive. After all, the region is still developing, and their experience at major championships is limited, though it exists.

Last year, GAM Esports found themselves in a similar situation, entering the 0-2 bracket, after which they managed to defeat a Western team (Team Liquid back then). Who knows, could MAD Lions KOI face the same fate as Liquid last year? We’ll find out in the MAD Lions KOI vs. GAM Esports match on October 7 at 14:00 CET.

Team Liquid – paiN Gaming (Oct 7, 17:00 CET)

The final match on the schedule for World Championship 2024 Swiss Stage Day 5 will be Team Liquid vs. paiN Gaming. Both teams are in the 0-2 bracket and can no longer afford any mistakes.

As with the MAD Lions KOI – GAM Esports match, Liquid and paiN have ended up where they are logically and deservedly.

Team Liquid (LCS) – the second team from LCS Summer 2024, is a fairly experienced club. After all, they represent NA League of Legends, so expecting anything extravagant, like reaching the playoffs of Worlds 2024, is not very likely. At this year's Worlds 2024, Liquid has already lost to Bilibili Gaming and Weibo Gaming.

It's unlikely they can replicate NRG's success from last year and make it to the Top 8, but they should be able to defeat paiN Gaming. However, considering FlyQuest’s performance in this tournament, it’s safe to say that Liquid is NA’s last hope.

When we talk about paiN Gaming (CBLOL), they’ve already achieved a lot. They managed to get through the Play-In stage, which is a success for a CBLOL team. No one expected them to beat G2 Esports or even T1. They’ve already gained valuable experience, which is great. It would be even better if they could defeat Liquid in the paiN vs. Team Liquid match, though this seems unlikely. We’ll find out on October 7 at 17:00 CET.

The LoL World Championship 2024 will take place from September 25 to November 2 in three European capitals. The Worlds 2024 prize pool is $2,250,000, with the winner receiving 20 percent.
