Knockout Stage Get Closer – LoL Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage Match Schedule for Day 2

Yesterday, on October 3, the Swiss Stage of the 2024 LoL World Championship began—the second phase of the global League of Legends championship. Sixteen teams started their journey to the Knockout Stage.

According to Swiss Stage rules, the first two rounds are played in a best-of-one format (Bo1), so the schedule for Day 2 of Worlds 2024 will only feature Bo1 matches. Teams with a 1-0 record will face off against each other, as well as teams with a 0-1 record. Check out the Worlds 2024 schedule and refresh your memory of the results from Day 1.

Swiss Stage Worlds 2024: Day 2

On October 4, all 16 teams will compete in the Swiss Stage. Both teams with a 1-0 record and those with a 0-1 record will play their matches.

The matchups were determined randomly, so some games may seem unbalanced. Still, this is the World Championship, and every team—whether in the 1-0 or 0-1 bracket—deserves to be there.

Now, let’s take a closer look at the upcoming matches.

Bilibili Gaming – LNG Esports (Oct 4, 14:00 CET)

The 2024 World Championship Swiss Stage Day 2 schedule will kick off with the match between Bilibili Gaming (LPL) and LNG Esports (LPL). In the first round of the Swiss Stage, BLG defeated MAD Lions KOI, while LNG Esports crushed Team Liquid.

This Chinese derby promises to be one of the day’s most exciting matches. Both teams know each other’s strengths and weaknesses well, as they’ve faced off multiple times in the LPL. That’s why Bilibili Gaming seems to be the favorite, although the Bo1 format could heavily impact the outcome, especially since LNG is also a highly experienced team. Overall, expect a top-tier match.

Gen.G – Top Esports (Oct 4, 15:00 CET)

The second match in the Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage Day 2 schedule will feature Gen.G (LCK) versus Top Esports (LPL). Like the first day of the group stage, the second match will likely be the main event. Gen.G won their first match at Worlds against Weibo Gaming (runner-up at Worlds 2023), while Top Esports defeated T1 (2023 World Champions).

This year’s Mid-Season Invitational champion, Gen.G, will take on the runner-up of the 2024 Esports World Cup and one of the most experienced teams in the LPL. Expect to see peak League of Legends here.

G2 Esports – Hanwha Life Esports (Oct 4, 16:00 CET)

The third match of the day will be between G2 Esports (LEC) and Hanwha Life Esports (LCK). G2 Esports made their Worlds 2024 debut with a win over paiN Gaming, while HLE defeated PSG Talon.

For Europe’s last hope, a match against the top LCK team will be quite the challenge. However, G2 has experience defeating top teams in Bo1 (having beaten DPlus KIA and Weibo Gaming at Worlds 2023). And while Yasuo + Yone picks might not work against a team like HLE, Hans Sama’s Draven might…

Weibo Gaming – Liquid (Oct 4, 17:00 CET)

The match between Weibo Gaming (LPL) and Liquid (LCS) will take place in the 0-1 bracket. The loser will fall to 0-2, where there’s no room for error.

Can Liquid prove the strength of the NA region? Based on their first match against LNG Esports, it seems Liquid might struggle to compete with the LPL. Meanwhile, Weibo "warmed up" in their match against Gen.G, where they initially looked quite strong. Overall, it seems like NA is in trouble.

T1 – paiN Gaming (Oct 4, 18:00 CET)

In the 0-1 bracket, we’ll also see T1 (LCK) face paiN Gaming (CBLOL). Unfortunately for paiN Gaming, this might be a clear 0-2 for them.

T1’s presence in the 0-1 bracket doesn’t mean much. In their first match, they played against the strong Top Esports team, and it was a Bo1. As I noted when previewing the TES vs. T1 match, either team could have won, and TES came out on top. Now, T1 is expected to be 1-1, while paiN will likely have to prepare for a Bo3 in the 0-2 bracket.

DPlus KIA – FlyQuest (Oct 4, 19:00 CET)

Next on the Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage Day 2 schedule is the match between DPlus KIA (LCK) and FlyQuest (LCS). Perhaps one of the most unexpected matches of the day, mainly due to FlyQuest's presence.

FlyQuest, representing North America, is playing in their second-ever Worlds tournament and could replicate the incredible success of NRG, who made it to the playoffs last year. However, they’ll need to beat DPlus KIA first, which will be quite the challenge.

Fnatic – GAM Esports (Oct 4, 20:00 CET)

The penultimate match in the 2024 LoL World Championship schedule will be Fnatic (LEC) versus GAM Esports (VCS). This is a crucial match for both teams, as a win here will extend their journey in Worlds 2024.

Logically, Fnatic should win, having started Worlds 2024 with a loss to DPlus KIA. Fnatic has more experience, but the Bo1 format could give the underdog GAM Esports a chance.

MAD Lions KOI – PSG Talon (Oct 6, 21:00 CET)

The final match of the Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage Day 2 will be MAD Lions KOI (LEC) vs. PSG Talon (PCS). This match strongly resembles Fnatic vs. GAM Esports in terms of the teams’ skill levels.

Both MAD Lions KOI and PSG Talon deserve to be at Worlds 2024, as they’ve done everything they needed to during regional tournaments and even overcame the Play-In stage. However, high expectations for results at this year’s championship might be misplaced. As for the outcome, I’d refer to their previous encounter during the Play-In stage, where MAD Lions KOI came out on top. Still, Bo1 is unpredictable.

The LoL World Championship 2024 will take place from September 25 to November 2 in three European capitals. The Worlds 2024 prize pool is $2,250,000, with the winner receiving 20 percent.
