Getting to know the format of the IEM Fall 2021 in all regions

Together with the announcement of the lists of invited teams, ESL presented the format for the IEM Fall 2021 championship series in all regions.

IEM Fall 2021 Europe format

List of participants: NIP, Heroic, Astralis, FunPlus Phoenix, G2, mousesports, DBL PONEY, Sprout, BIG, Vitality, Complexity, OG + 12 teams from the closed qualifier.

All teams participating in IEM Fall 2021 Europe will be divided into four groups (six teams in each), where they will compete for two tickets (from each group) to the playoffs. All group stage matches will be played in BO1 format, with each team playing in a group of five matches, following the "Round-robin" algorithm.

The teams that took 3 places in each group will play in a separate grid and compete for places from 9th to 12th. In the playoffs of the tournament, the format will change to the usual BO3. All teams will start their journey from the quarterfinals stage. The losing teams in each stage will get into a separate grid with the opportunity to compete for places from 5th to 8th, as well as 3rd place - for the losers in the semifinals. The Grand Final will be held in BO5 format without handicap.

IEM Fall 2021 North America format

List of participants: EXTREMUM, Liquid, FURIA, Evil Geniuses, 00Nation, Extra Salt + 6 teams from the closed qualifier.

All teams participating in IEM Fall 2021 North America will be divided into two groups (six teams in each), where they will compete for two tickets (from each group) to the playoffs. All group stage matches will be played in BO1 format, with each team playing in a group of five matches, following the "Round-robin" algorithm.

The teams that took 3 places in each group will play in the match for the 5th place. The usual BO3 format will return to the playoffs of the tournament. All teams will start their journey from the semi-final stage. The teams that lost their meetings will have the opportunity to play in the match for the 3rd place in the championship. The Grand Final will be held in BO5 format without handicap.

IEM Fall 2021 CIS format

List of participants: Natus Vincere, Spirit, Gambit, K23, forZe, Virtus.pro + 6 teams from the closed qualifier.

All teams participating in IEM Fall 2021 CIS will be divided into two groups (six teams in each), where they will compete for two tickets (from each group) to the playoffs. All group stage matches will be played in BO1 format, with each team playing in a group of five matches, following the "Round-robin" algorithm.

The format of the play-off stage in the CIS region follows the structure of the tournament in North America.

IEM Fall 2021 Asia format

List of participants: TYLOO, ViCi + 2 teams from the closed qualifier.

All teams will start their journey in the semi-finals in the double elimination bracket. The losers in the first round will go to the lower bracket, where they will have a second opportunity to qualify for the grand final. All matches will be held in BO3 format, with the exception of the grand final, which will be played in BO5 format with a handicap for the team that went through the upper bracket.

IEM Fall 2021 Oceania format

List of participants: Renegades, ORDER + 2 teams from closed qualifiers.

The format follows the structure of the championship in Asia.

IEM Fall 2021 South America format

List of participants: MIBR, Sharks + 2 teams from the closed qualifier.

The format follows the structure of the championships in Asia and Oceania.
