Welcome to EGamersWorld.
We continue to watch the main tournament of this spring in the Counter-Strike 2 discipline. We are talking, of course, about PGL CS2 Copenhagen Major 2024, where the name of the first world champion in Counter-Strike 2 is determined.
Today we are talking about what is happening on the Opening Stage, where 12 teams are left in the fight out of the 16 teams that claim to advance to the next stage. Among them are G2 Esports and ECSTATIC.
Their situation is quite dire. Both teams have statistics 1-2 and defeat here puts an end to further participation in the PGL CS 2 Major Copenhagen 2024. Let's see which of the teams will be stronger and at the end of the match will be the winner, as a consequence of continuing the fight on the main stage of the world.
Let's go.
G2 Esports uniforms
Let's open the match with an analysis of G2 Esports uniforms. In this match the team will play the first number one with odds to win at around 1.3.
Almost all of last year G2 Esports did not leave the podiums of major championships. Their rise as a top team started with BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2023 and IEM Katowice 2023. Both championships G2 passed confidently and at two tournaments they deservedly became champions.
Next, the "samurai" were stormy. Last season ESL Pro League Season 17 G2 Esports finished on the 9-12 line, which is clearly not the level of the team that recently won Katowice 2023.
After a frankly weak performance at EPL Season 17 G2 Esports played at BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023. In Paris, NiKo and company had a real fiasco, as the tournament for them ended at the TOP-14 stage, which certainly did not fit into G2's plans.
- G2 Esports line-up: huNter, NiKo, m0NESY, nexa, HooXi.
Before ESL Pro League Season 18, G2 Esports made their mark on several other major tournaments. These were BLAST Premier: Spring Finals and Fall Groups, where G2 took top 4 and top 8 respectively.
Next up was IEM Cologne 2023 and finally a win. In the Grand Final they beat ENCE 3-1, thus taking another IEM title for the year.
The last championship was Gamers8. The biggest commercial tournament of the season ended with G2 Esports in the top 4.
G2 Esports started off ESL Pro League Season 18 with a betting tirerable win. They beat Lynn Vision 2-0 in their opening match, but to be fair, they were close to a fiasco on the first map. However, G2 Esports subsequently advanced to the play-offs, and straight into the quarter-finals, where they met MOUZ. The Mice outplayed G2 Esports and later became EPL S18 champions.
G2 Esports attended two more events before competing at BLAST Premier: World Finals 2023. These were BLAST Premier: Fall European Showdown 2023 and IEM Sydney 2023. Both tournaments saw the team finish in the Top 4 stage. There was also CCT Online Finals #5, where G2 showed a frankly mediocre result. The titular European club failed to make it to the top 2 and get a slot to the Global Finals, and settled for only the top 4.
Prior to the PGL CS 2 Major Copenhagen 2024 Europe RMR G2 Esports played at three top tournaments before the Long Convergence PGL CS 2 Major Copenhagen 2024 Europe RMR G2 Esports. BLAST Premier: World Final 2023, BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2024 and IEM Katowice 2024 and they finished in the top 6. Looks good, but it's still not the same for the G2 Esports level.
Then PGL Major Copenhagen 2024: European RMR A G2 Esports played at their level. The level you expect from them - that is, top 2 and a slot in the Copenhagen CS2 Major Legends.
At the Copenhagen CS 2 Major itself G2 Esports have a score of 1-1. First, they confidently won against FURIA, but then in a tough fight Ledge and NaVi. Next - a loss from Cloud9 and now their stay at PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 is in doubt.
G2 Esports Mappool
The main map of G2 is Ancient. There G2 played 8 matches, of which they won 6.
Then comes Anubis (3 games, 2 wins), Vertigo (5 matches, 3 wins), Inferno (12 matches, 58% wins).
G2 Esports has no minus winnings on mapx. Among the "worst" choices are Nuke (7 matches, 4 wins), Mirage (4 wins, 4 losses).
Form ECSTATIC
We continue the match analysis with the analysis of ECSTATIC's form. In this match the team will play as a clear outsider, with odds to win at around 3.
ECSTATIC is a very unexpected guest at this late stage of PGL CS 2 Major Copenhagen 2024. Their passage to the Elimination Stage is already an achievement for a very young team.
So far, all ECSTATIC can boast about is their performances at various qualifiers and qualifiers. These were the open qualifiers for the PGL CS 2 Copenhagen Major 2024, where ECSTATIC succeeded with only 3 attempts, and then the full qualifications for RMR, where the Danes needed to play Decider to get to RMR.
In between the temporary success of winning the Decider match, ECSTATIC played a qualifier at the Pelaajat.com Series Spring, where they finished top 4, and then finished second at the European Pro League Season 13, which was their only title at this year's championship.
- ECSTATIC line-up: kraghen, Queenix, salazar, Nodios, Patti.
At RMR itself, the Danish club showed a normal level of play. They took the top 8, which was enough to get into the Opening Stage PGL CS2 Copenhagen Major 2024.
At the Opening Stage PGL CS2 Copenhagen Major 2024 ECSTATIC really shone. After losing their opening match against Cloud9, the Danes made it three wins in a row, beating The MongolZ, Lynn Vision and then Imperial.
On the Elimination Stage, where the opponents are much more serious than before, ECSTATIC Ledge beat C9 and MOUZ, but then knocked FURIA out of the tournament.
ECSTATIC Mapple
The best map of ECSTATIC remains Vertigo, the Brazilians have played there 5 times and won in 3 maps. Next comes Mirage, already with 7 games and 4-3 stats.
Neutral choice for Furia will be Nuke and Ancient. There the Brazilians have 6 maps and the score is 3-3 on each.
The worst is Overpass (2-3) and Inferno (1-2).
History of head-to-head meetings G2 Esports - ECSTATIC
The teams previously played each other back in 2022 and back then G2 slammed the Danes with a score of 16-0.
Predicted result of ECSTATIC vs G2 Esports at PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024
Things are pretty clear-cut in this match. G2 Esports simply can't lose to the Danes in bo3. Yes, ECSTATIC are certainly good and have shown their best side, but frankly speaking, they were quite lucky in the Opening Stage with their opponents, and that's why I think it's still too early for them to fight with more experienced teams. G2 didn't shine at this Major either, but they lost not to ECSTATIC level teams, but to Navi and C9.
The result: G2 Esports won with the score 2-0.
