Two-time The International champions Team Spirit failed to overcome the Chinese team Xtreme Gaming, losing a crucial match in the lower bracket and thus exiting the tournament. This loss dashed their hopes of becoming the first team to win The International three times. Naturally, both the organization and players were disheartened by their departure from the premier Dota 2 event. Following their elimination, Team Spirit players commented on their performance at the tournament.

Team Spirit Players Reactions After Defeat by Xtreme Gaming and Exit from TI 2024

First to comment was Collapse, followed by Mira, and the next morning, the team captain Miposhka. Raddan and Korb3n shared sad stickers, while Larl and Silent remained silent. All comments were posted on their personal Telegram channels.

Explanations and excuses are unnecessary. The opponents were simply stronger.

Mira:

It’s really sad that we couldn’t go further, despite our best efforts. See you next season, or maybe not. Thanks for the support.

Miposhka:

I don’t know what to say about the tournament, guys. We tried, made mistakes, messed up, made wrong decisions, and focused on the wrong things. It’s classic and led to our defeats. It’s strange to lose two series and exit, but that’s the way it is. The tournament system this time was a bit off, but we’re to blame. We’ll work hard and move forward regardless. Thanks to everyone who supported us.

Xtreme Gaming’s XinQ also commented on their victory over Team Spirit, stating that the opponents were not at their best.

XinQ:

We won and made it to the top 8, which is great. As for beating Spirit specifically, I don’t have strong emotions about it because they were far from their top form. Our first game was decent; we just made a few mistakes and the match ended. After the defeat, we all agreed that we played well overall and were stronger. We just needed to keep doing what we were doing.

Team Spirit finishes in 9th-10th place at TI 2024. Xtreme Gaming’s next opponent will be Aurora, and the result of this match will determine who will be the next team to leave The International 2024.
