G2 Esports say goodbye to Rekkles, Wunder and Mikyx

G2 Esports will make drastic changes to their League of Legends roster. The director of the esports organization Carlos 'ocelote' Rodriguez Santiago said that three players and a coach are already in the team's reserve, and their places will be taken by other esportsmen. Martin 'Rekkles' Larsson, Martin 'Wunder' Hansen, Michael 'Mikyx' Mele and head coach Fabian 'GrabbZ' Lohman are waiting in the wings to travel to another esports organization to pursue careers elsewhere. All of the abovementioned personalities were put up for transfer.

According to Carlos Santiago, the club will aim to win not only the regular rank and file tournaments, but also to prevail in the League of Legends World Championship. The director of an esports organization specifically noted the difficulty of making such a decision. In his address to fans of the club, he said the following:

These changes were very, very difficult to accept, and trust me when I say that we spent many hours... We really had a lot of communication with the players who stay in the organization. As a result of these discussions, we decided to put on the bench and exchange Wunder, Mikyx, Rekkles, GrabbZ and the rest of the staff.

Carlos 'ocelote' Santiago said that G2 Esports will find new places to pursue the careers of Rekkles, Wunder, Mikyx and GrabbZ.

This year, G2 Esports failed to qualify for the League of Legends World Championship for the first time. Martin 'Rekkles' Larsson and his teammates were unable to reach the top 3 in the LEC Summer 2021, for which he paid with a trip to the 2021 World Championship. Interestingly, G2 Esports players were blocked from entering the World Cup by Fnatic, the team that previously played Martin 'Rekkles' Larsson.
