Gen.G Esports are the latest entry in the 2020 World Championship. Thus, it's time to take stock, remember how the full list of participants now looks and when the League of Legends World Championship will take place.

The best performers in their leagues were the teams that received the highest cash prizes after the league ended and went to the group stage of the 2020 World Championship. Top Esports, JD Gaming and Suning have dropped out of the Chinese league. The first became the winners in the league, the second scored the most points, and the third won the regional final. G2 Esports, Fnatic and Rogue took the first 3 places in LEC Summer 2020 and received their invitations to the group stage. The next three rosters to start as a group are DAMWON Gaming, DragonX and Gen.G Esports. As with China, DAMWON took first place in the league, DragonX got the most points, and Gen.G Esports won the regional final. Team SoloMid and FlyQuest showed the best results in the American LCS Summer 2020, and Machi Esports became the champions of PCS Summer 2020.

The next ten teams also performed well in their League of Legends leagues, but they either belong to the not the most popular division, or showed not such good results as their opponents in the previous leagues. INTZ went through CBLOL Winter, LGD Gaming went through the LPL Summer 2020 regional finals, Legacy Esports won OPL Split 2, and MAD Lions and PSG Talon performed well in LEC Summer 2020 and PCS Summer 2020, respectively. Rainbow7 and SuperMassive eSports became winners at LLA Closing and TCL Summer. Team Liquid made it to the 2020 World Championship via LCS Summer 2020, and V3 Esports became champions in the Japanese LJL Summer 2020.

The 2020 World Championship will take place from September 25 to October 31 in Shanghai. The venue will be the Pudong Football Stadium. Initially, the organizers wanted to hold the event in three locations, but later, due to the pandemic, they decided to abandon this venture. There is currently no information on how much the total prize fund of the 2020 World Championship will be, but it is known that the winner will take 37.5% of the prize money for himself, the vice-champion - 13.5%, and the teams that took 3-4 places - 7% each. The smallest share will be received by the teams that will take the 13-16 places, namely 1.25%. The teams that will occupy 17-22 positions in the standings will remain without prize money.
