OG goes to the quarterfinals of ESL Pro League Season 14 and other results of group B

So the events of Group B within ESL Pro League Season 14 are over, which means that it's time to sum up and get ready to meet six other teams.

The first place in the group was taken by the OG team, which for six days did not let go of the Palm, gaining one victory after another. This is exactly what happened in the first rounds, when the team outplayed Virtus.pro, Complexity and G2. Next, the team managed to deal with forZe and Sinners in order to finally close all questions and secure a ticket to the quarterfinals of the competition.

The second command, quite unexpectedly, was forZe. The Russian team was initially not supposed to play at ESL Pro League Season 14. However, the coronavirus and Australia became an obstacle for Renegades, whose players could not fly to Europe for the bootcamp. However, forZe showed its best performance, beating everyone except OG. And I want to believe that this team will not get lost in the playoffs.

The decisive slot in the playoffs was won by the Complexity team, who arrived at the tournament with a mountain of problems. There is no need to remind once again about the loss of the leader and all the reshuffles, but already in the first round the team stumbled and lost to forZe, which noticeably lost interest. However, in the next three rounds Complexity was able to return to the race, beating Sinners, Virtus.pro and G2. And even the defeat to OG in the final round did not prevent the team from imposing a fight on the leader, taking an absolutely deserved slot in the playoffs of the championship.

Major disappointments

Of course, Virtus.pro and G2 are among the main losers. But if the Russian team was still at least somehow gaining their points, then G2 got what it deserved, reaping the fruits of terrible preparation for the championship. As a result, the Russian team still managed to beat Sinners and G2, while the Balkan-French did not show anything, earning exactly zero points in five matches.

Another disappointment is Sinners. The Czech team kicked off the championship, closing G2. But then the team began to fail, failing to live up to the high expectations that appeared after the first game. As a result, Sinners finished the championship with one victory, taking the deserved fifth place in the group.

What to expect from Group C?

Today, on August 27, the third group of the championship starts. Obviously, the main interest will be focused on NAVI. The champion of IEM Cologne 2021 will start the tournament as the main favorite, hoping to confirm his status not with words, but with deeds. Another intrigue is addressed to FaZe Clan, which proved to be excellent at the same IEM Cologne 2021. Now the team must cope with online, where it is not very good at it.

Exactly the same should be said about mousesports. The team failed the last championships, although in the spring it was the best among other Europeans. But fnatic and Evil Geniuses should be considered the main outsiders of Group C. Both teams made replacements, and some were forced, and clearly needed time to adapt. Therefore, it is definitely not worth counting on immediate results from them.

ESL Pro League Season 14 is coming online from August 16 to September 12. 24 teams from Europe, Brazil, CIS and North America are competing for a total tournament prize pool of $ 750,000 and a lot of ranking points in the ESL Pro Tour and BLAST Premier tables. The winner will not only earn a solid cash reward of $ 175,000, but also receive a direct invite to BLAST Premier World Final 2021.
