The third minor of the season 2019/2020 happening in Kyiv ended up. The contestants were fighting for $300,000 of the prize pool, 660 DPC points and a slot at ESL One Los Angeles 2020. The representatives of Team Aster became the winners having beaten Alliance at the grand final. We will sum the championship up and tell you about the surprising and disappointing teams.

Teams that managed to surprise

This sector is represented by the players from BOOM Esports who got placed on the fourth position in the end of the event. The roster is not that strong and the players should be grateful to business associates who failed the event, however, passing to the playoff is already considered to be a great result.

The surprise list also includes Team Aster for their flawless game. The game was going to the event as one of the favorites, however, previous rating tournaments show that Sccc liked losing something that is impossible to lose, so there were some doubts about it. The Chinese team turned out to be in great shape having prepared for the event well so the gamers lost only one map at the competition which happened at the grand final. As a result, the first place and a chance to see Sccc` at the major again.

Disappointing teams:

The list of the disappointing team is made up by two North American teams - business associates and CR4ZY.

The roster headed by Fear was one step away from a trip to the Major, however, several mistakes resulted in the start of the way with qualifiers for StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 3 for the guys. By the way, they over same them easily - 2:0 at the match against Team Xolotl and 2:0 at the battle with Fighting PandaS. Sportsbooks shape pretty high odds for business associates as at the first major of the season the team climbed the 5-6 position, however at this event the roster showed an unmotivated game and took the last position losing against BOOM Esports and forZe at the group stage. This team should be considered the biggest disappointment of the tournament.

Meanwhile, CR4ZY was not hoped to win even though the roster was not the weakest at the elimination stage and each player has already claimed themselves on the professional stage (the team has two finalists of The International series). Also the team found sponsor support by CR4ZY before the championship and it must have given additional motivation for the guys, however, starting with the first match, the guys were not so successful and the gamers were not to make it to the playoff stage.

The other contestants

All the other participants performed pretty predictably as Alliance and Gambit got to Three Best while the representatives of South Africa took the last place which they are used to.

Fan fact: The rating season 2019\2020 did not have any major without representatives of China at the grand final. The Chinese teams raised the cup over their heads twice - DOTA Summit 11 was won by Invictus Gaming, and Team Aster celebrated their victory at StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 3.
