Patch 7.36 was released during the height of a major Dota 2 tournament - DreamLeague Season 23. Teams had no choice but to continue playing the playoff stage on the new patch, which came as a surprise to many players since the patch was released overnight, and the next morning teams had their first games. Despite this, the tournament's winners were Team Falcons, who were the original favorites of DreamLeague Season 23.
