Rumors: Overwatch 2 will be released before the summer of 2022
There is little information about Overwatch 2, but interesting rumors are floating around in places. One of these came from the Dexerto camp.
The portal, referring to its own sources, reports that the second part of Overwatch may see the light of day before the summer of 2022. In addition, Dexerto refutes the information of the Metro insider, who previously spoke about the postponement of the project to 2023.
According to all the same unnamed sources, Activision Blizzard intends to send Overwatch 2 to gold as soon as possible. The developers have allegedly already received instructions to start polishing the game and modify the existing functionality instead of adding new features.
The rush to release OW2 may have something to do with the Overwatch League. In recent years, the game's main esports league has been going through hard times, and the release of a sequel could revive interest in the event.
Whether the information will turn out to be true is not clear. We may hear more details at a potential BlizzCon 2022 this fall.
