Mass disqualification - more than 50 teams were eliminated from the open qualifiers for DPC 2021 for the CIS
The organizers of the first ranking CIS championship have disqualified more than 50 teams due to the difference in the names of the participants on the website of the ESL event organizer and the official website for registering Dota 2 teams. Differences in team names on the ESL website and Valve's team registration website were stated as the reason.
Kirill 'Sunlight' Kachinsky from Kasatiki's team spoke about this turn of events on his Twitter account. The fact is that their team decided to call itself in Cyrillic on the ESL website, that is, "Касатики", while the name of the team on the Dota 2 team registration site sounds like "Kasatiki". According to the ESL regulations, the name of the roster must match exactly.
Before the start of the first qualifying round, 161 participants were registered on the ESL website, and only 108 teams appeared in the final bracket. According to our assumption, it was the aforementioned rule of group names that weeded out many participants from the CIS region.
