Gambit became the second participant in the VCT 2021 Grand Final: EMEA Stage 3 Challengers Playoffs. In the final of the lower bracket, the Russian team confidently dealt with Acend with a score of 3: 1 (Ascent - 18:16; Bind - 13: 4; Breeze - 9:13; Haven - 13: 7). Now Redgar and company will play with the SuperMassive Blaze team, which became the opening of the championship.
The final began in an uncompromising struggle, since already on the first map the teams went into overtime. However, the series of rounds in defense was interrupted by the Russian team, which, with great difficulty, won their pick. The second map went without a fight, because Gambit by inertia went over the opponent, spreading with a final score of 13: 4.
On the Breeze, the advantage went to Acend, who showed incredible attacking play, securing a comfortable advantage before switching sides. But the defense did not become kryptonite for cNed and the company, thanks to which Acend took the first point in the series.
However, the holiday was short-lived, as on the next map Gambit returned to the game, showing two convincing sides. Thus, the Russian team defeated the former leader of the European rating, removing him from the throne.
Tomorrow, on August 22, the grand final of the championship will take place. Gambit will try to figure out SuperMassive Blaze in a full-blown BO5 match, which will be interesting from the point of view of the confrontation of regions.
